Hiking route: Cañaveral de León-Ribera de Hinojales

TRAIL DESCRIPTION:  It begins in Cañaveral, next to the municipal watertank, at the town´s occidental exit. We go down through a street which goes to the cementery. At the parking, we take the left road. At the second crossing, we take the right road which has pasture lands. There is a part of the road, where we can only go on foot. Then we arrive at a wide path which descends towards the Ribera de Hinojales. Facing this place, we can see the mountain chain “La Moralejo””. After, we have to go left. Since the Ribera section, we continue through La Rivera until arriving Hinojales. The scenery is formed by different shapes of valley reverbed and killide of mountains.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For allergic people, it is not recommended to go on spring time. EPOCH AND TIME FRAME RECOMMENDED: Summer time OBSERVATIONS: You must enjoy the experience watching all surroundings you, if you are tired you will find some places for relaxing, and remember that going on summer time, you won’t have any problems with rain, allergies and high temperatures. OTHER ACTIVITIES: We can visit the Town Hall of Cañaveral and Santa Marina Church; swimming in the municipal watertank; and do town’s typical games all together.

CULTURAL AND LANDSCAPE ASPECTS : In Cañaveral de Leon there is a natural spring in the centre of the town. One of the most important arquitect monuments is the Santa María Church.

PREDOMINANT FLORA, FAUNA AND LAND :  During the route, you can find medium size birds of poey, multitude of deer or wild birds. This route contains a forest with holm oak and cork, olive trees, eucalyptus trees and pasture land.

OBSERVATIONS (weather, changes of trail, incidents, accidents...): The weather of Ribera de Hinojales is characterized by rain and low temperatures. The road is full of rocks and ravines so we have to be careful not to have any accident. During our road we must be careful to follow the path indicated as there are more routes in which we could lose us.
